President Barack Obama visited the city Tuesday to attend a pair of fundraisers in Manhattan.

The president arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport at around 3:45 p.m.

He made a surprise stop at the Gap on 42nd Street, where he bought sweaters for his family.

Obama said that he wanted to showcase the retailer’s recent voluntary wage increase.

Raising the minimum wage is an issue that’s been at the top of the president’s agenda in 2014.

After the stop at the Gap, it was on to the fundraisers, which were closed to press.

The first was for the Democratic National Committee, which was sponsored by a couple who said that the money will be useful if Hillary Clinton announces a presidential run.

The second fundraiser, which Mayor Bill de Blasio also attended, raised money for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

The president headed back to Washington at around 9 p.m.
